Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation
The Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation is the latest foundation offering from masters of glow; Becca. And this beauty writer was lucky enough to get a preview in the form of all eight shades as well as the recommended tool for application; the Becca The One Perfecting Brush
Described by Becca as
A weightless, light coverage foundation with a luminous finish perfect for everyday
This foundation certainly lives up to its claims.
The packaging is classic Becca with lovely smooth lines and a metallic finish lid. The delivery system is via a glass dropper which picks up 3 to 4 drops of the product at a time. While I like the packaging I cant help but feel that I would have preferred a pump, similar to the backlit primer to help prevent spillage or leaking around the neck of the product however, there is no denying that the bottle is stylish and beautiful. You can see more of the packaging by watching this video.
I trialled a variety of methods to apply the Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation including the recommended Becca The One Perfecting brush ( I was so excited to finally try this do-everything brush) my easy to use Sigma 3D HD kabuki and Beauty Blender. The winner in my book was the Beauty Blender as I found it gave both the quickest and most seamless blending. The Becca brush (while absolutely amazing for contouring) was a little heavy for the thin consistency of this foundation and left a few brush marks on my face.
Once blended into the face the Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation gives a gorgeously dewey and luminous finish, the luminous part of the foundation is clearly visible in the bottle and transfers beautifully on the skin. The skin feels and looks moisturised and fresh. On me the foundation did not look thick or cakey but almost disappeared into the skin. I absolutely adored the look of the foundation upon application however as the day progressed I found that it tended to melt and transfer quite heavily if i touched my face
The foundation needed quite a lot of powdering to get it to set it into place, it did not set by itself and needed touching up with powder during the day to prevent it from breaking u on and around the nose. Its a shame that it needed so much powder as it mean that some of that gorgeous luminosity that Becca is so well known for was lost. However, if i had to I would choose longevity over dewiness every time.
For reference my skin is best described as combination, with an oily T zone and frequent dryness around the mouth.

The thing I was most impressed with in the Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation was the range of shades available in this formula, Becca seem to be truly global in their shade availability across many of their lines. While there are only eight available the shades range from fair to deep bronze and various shades in between. I feel like the luminosity of the formula and finish is really forgiving in that a shade that is slightly too dark or light may still work quite well for you.

I have regularly been wearing the Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation on days where I am only going out for a few hours because while I absolutely love the finish it personally just didn’t last long on my skin. I think that that this would work really well for those with dryer skins, or those who aren’t dealing with hot Australian summers ( Im keen to try this out in winter when I have drier skin)

The Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation is now available in the USA and will be available in Australia in coming months.

February 26, 2016Wow you lucky duck! I have oily skin, and team that with the weather and like you said, it probably won't last (unless you are in air conditioning all day). I might give it a go in the cooler months :) It'd definitely perk up tired winter skin! Great review :)

March 8, 2016Awesome review Rosa! I think I will probably give this one a miss as I'm a fan of long-wearing foundations that I don't have to worry about powdering my face throughout the day. I appreciate your honest review though! x
