Spotlight on ModelCo skincare

Hi there, today on LNL we are shining the spotlight on the brand ModelCo and in particular the latest collection to hit shelves the range of natural skincare. I was familiar with ModelCo tanning and cosmetics but wasn’t aware that skincare was also available.
Ill let you know right off the bat that these products were kindly sent to me by ModelCo for my consideration. Some of these products really impressed me while others were fairly standard.
Lets start off with my favourites..

The double sided facial cleansing wipes are now one of the only makeup removing wipes that i will ever use. Often cleansing wipes contain all sorts of nasties and often lead to my having a bout of perioral dermatitis that can last for weeks. These wipes are unlike some of the other wipes I have attempted to use in the past as they’re free from sulphates and parabens and are enriched with Aloe Vera, Cucumber Extract, Green Tea
and Vitamin E, but what makes them truly unique is that they contain two different textures, The smooth side is like a standard wipe that takes makeup off without too much effort. The “rough side” gently exfoliates the skin,  helping to improve circulation.
Take care not to rub too hard as the little nodules can leave your skin a little red and you should definitely not use these too close to the eyes as they can irritate the delicate skin in the area.  Each pack contains 25 wipes.
Price – $8
Pros – double sided, nice packaging, easy to use
Cons – Nil
Rating – meh ok good great wow
The other item I am absolutely loving is the Instant Miracle booster Serum. this little pump bottle holds a translucent liquid that makes big claims. Used in conjunction  with a moisturiser this serum claims to tighten, brighten and moisturise the skin. Ive really been enjoying using this at night as an over night treatment and also works brilliantly in the morning to provide  a lovely smooth base for makeup.
I can’t confirm its claims of brighter skin but my skin certainly felt tighter as the product dried and looked a lot smoother immediately afterwards.
Again the Instant Miracle Booster is free from nasties and contains vitamin C and antioxidants.
Price – $35
Pros – Free from nasties, makes skin look great under makeup, cooling
Cons – bordering on expensive
Rating – meh ok good great wow
The soothing moisturiser is a lovely product but i found that it was not quite rich enough for my needs, especially as a night cream as the weather cools down and my skin gets dryer (it is a duo day and night cream)  Like most of the products in the line the product smells pleasant with a natural, essential oil type fragrance ( I think i can smell a bit of rose in there) The moisturiser actually reminds me a lot of Sukin moisturisers with in fragrance and consistency. This would be a great in a travel pack for someone who spends the odd night away from home as its compact and a dual purpose product. I probably wouldn’t repurchase this product for myself, because as i mentioned i do prefer a little richer a product.
Price – $25
Pros – Free from nasties, pleasant fragrance
Cons – Could be more hydrating/richer
Rating – meh ok good great wow
The Cream Cleanser is a good, standard cream cleanser that is no a no fuss product. It is quite rich and leaves the skin feeling very moisturised and clean but i found that it did need a second rinse and a face washer to get it all off. While i wasn’t astounded by any element of its performance, the fact that it works well without using any of the nasties that some brands uses is a key selling point.
Price – $15
Pros – Free from nasties, pleasant fragrance, good value for money
Cons – a little difficult to rinse
Rating – meh ok good great wow
The facial exfoliating cream was a bit of a surprise to me, if you like lots of scrub for your money then this is the product for you. The cream contains lots of small and medium sized grit (walnut shells) The grit was a little much for my delicate skin and so I used it on my chest and arms and found it to be wonderful to get the blood moving and my skin glowing and smooth. Be sure not to use too roughly as  I said the product really packs a punch.
Price – $25
Pros – Free from nasties, pleasant fragrance, good value for money, lots of exfoliating particles, suitable for body also
Cons – a little rough for delicate or sensitive skin
Rating – meh ok good great wow
As someone who rarely uses a toner I feel under qualified to comment on the Replenish Rose Mist. I will say however that it smells beautiful, feels very cooling and refreshing on the skin and was pleasant to use without any stinging or uncomfortable tightness. I intend on putting this one in the fridge to help refresh my face in the middle of the day.
Price – $20
Pros – cooling, easy to use, lovely fragrance, nice packaging
Cons – nil
Rating – meh ok good great wow
The Rosehip +  facial oil is gorgeous. As a Rosehip oil lover I found this product equal to many of the more expensive brands. The facial oil is light and easily absorbed to give great hydration and a fresh and moisturised feeling. Mix in al little with the moisturiser for an added boost of nutrients and moisture. This oil also contains Tamanu oil which adds antioxidants.
Price – $20
Pros – affordable for the quality, easily absorbed
Cons – nil
Rating – meh ok good great wow
All in all I really enjoyed using these products over the last couple of months. I think they’re great quality for the price point and would be great for a beginners skin care set. I love that the products are all cruelty free and manage to do what they claim without the addition of nasty petrochemicals sulphates, parabens and cheap mineral oils.
The ModelCo range of natural skin care is available at Priceline and online on the ModelCo website

Great post Rosa! I haven't heard much about the ModelCo range, but I'd love to try the wipes, face scrub and rose mist (loving rose-scented stuff at the moment!).
