New! Opi hawaii collection
While Autumn might be in full swing here in Australia our nails are in for a summery treat in the form of the newly released Hawaii collection from OPI. There are twelves shades from pastels to brights and a pineapple inspired glitter. I have six of the shades to play with. Here they are below.
Hello Hawaii Ya?
Hello Hawaii Ya? is a muted pastel purple creme. In the bottle it looks quite a bit brighter than on the nail. On the nail its a gorgeous dusty shade which looks like a great Autumn and winter shade (who would have thought) when paired with grey tones.
Do You Take Lei Away?
Do You Take Lei Away? Is a beige nude and is one of my favourite shades of the collection. Its a shade that i would describe as an almond creme. The photos below show two coats but you could easily get away with a single coat as this polish is non streaky and has great coverage. As above its a shade that seems really suitable for Autumn and Winter.
Aloha from OPI
If Aloha from OPI were a MAC lipstick it would definitely be an Amplified formula, This shade is so intensely rich and pigmented and goes on with solid creme colour in just one coat. Its best described as a coral red (that is really hard to capture on camera) but is super bright and gorgeous (almost a neon) This is probably my second favourite and I can see myself grabbing for this one over and over again simply because its a fool proof shade and formula!
Is Mai Tai Crooked?
Great name and an even greater shade. Is Mai Tai Crooked is a pastel orange which dries a little brighter on the nail than it looks in the bottle. This one is super shiny even without a topcoat and looks gorgeous when paired with other brights.
That’s Hula-rious
Talk about a perfect mint green! Again in one coat you have almost full creme coverage which is so gloriously pastel and pretty. I like this version of mint so much better than the blue green hybrid that is often referred to as mint (think mint candy apple) maybe this one is my favourite? Its too hard to choose!
My Gecko does tricks
While this one looks amazing in the bottle ( i could just stare at its pearliness for hours) It was my least favourite to wear because I’m not sure the shade did well against my skin tone. Im also not a fan of polishes that you need to build and build upon. The swatches below show two coats of polish and the finish is still not quite opaque.
here it is layered over the mint shade to see if a creme base made any difference in my opinion.
This is a gorgeous collection! There are so many beautiful bright and summery shades as well as some others that are great for the cooler months.
Please note that these were provided to me at no cost as a PR sample.
