Chasing the sun in Port Stephens

The Mr and I are in total denial about the end of Summer and the serious change in the Sydney weather and decided to take a short little vacation away and headed up to one of our all time favourite locations; Port Stephens, and in particular Shoal Bay.

We have been coming to and staying at Shoal Bay Resort for about 8 years now and always have a lovely time.

Shoal bay close enough to Sydney to drive (approx 3 hours from our location) but far away enough to feel like you’re actually getting away. Its so quiet and relaxed its almost asleep with little here other than the resort, a chemist, supermarket, pub and a few restaurants and shops.

During the day the beach (and recently reopened jetty) is full of families enjoying the bays views and children seeing who can make the biggest splash by jumping off the pier

Our days are consisting of late wakeup times, walks along the beach, endless spa baths and dolphin watching and we are only up to day two!

Im a terrible over packer and have tried to limit the amount I’ve brought for our four night five day stay.

With me I have

– 4 t-shirt/tops
– two jumpers
– a pair of leggings
– a dress for a nice dinner out
– a long t-shirt/ tunic
– some trousers like these ones
– a singlet
– pyjamas and underwear
– swimwear

Pretty good hey?

Ive also tried to keep it minimal with products but haven’t done quite as well as with clothes.

In terms of hair and body care Ive brought my trusty Bhave shampoo and conditioner, some hairspray to tame the frizzy beach hair as well as my GHD paddle brush and some hair ties. I haven’t brought much other for my body other than my beloved The Body Shop strawberry body sorbet.

Skincare is limited to the new (to me) Ole Henricksen trio and I have also brought along my trusty ModelCo cleansing wipes.

IM barely wearing makeup during the day other than my beloved Itcosmetics CC+ cream but have brought along a few options including blush (max factor) mascara (itcosmetics) and some other bits and bobs.

I almost always have a nail file with me and have brought along some nail polish remover wipes and a nail colour to change my nails once they start looking ratty.
