How i Rediscovered my love of drugstore makeup

Can you believe that until a few months ago I had not bought any makeup from priceline for about 5 to 7 years! That’s right, Since I started working in full time work I basically bought all my supplies from department stores or online. Then I discovered the beauty community on Youtube and Instagram and saw all these glowing reviews for drugstore/highstreet products and decided to take the plunge.

I have to say, so far I’ve been pretty impressed with the quality of brands such as covergirl, essence, max factor, nyx and rimmel in providing great quality performance at a much lower price than what is offered at your local myer beauty counter.
I wouldn’t say that I was a makeup snob, its just that when I thought about drugstore I thought about the chalky, poor pigmented products of my youth.
Ive been really lucky that a couple of PR companies have been kind enough to send me a few products and to say that  have been surprised by the quality is a gross understatement.  Recently a couple of drugstore foudations (Maybelline fit me and Max Factor smooth effects) totally outperformed a high end foundation (nars sheer glow) both in the look and its long wearing ability.
I will admit that I still do have my faves, Nars blushes still out perform others but recently I found that a liquid eyeliner that cost under five dollars was significantly better than the Nars eyeliner stylo. And as you might have read here there are still some high end products that I do think outshine drugstore.
The bad part of all this (if you think this is bad) is that my makeup collection has grown at an alarming rate since I discovered the cheaper products on the other hand I believe that im getting a lot better value for money.

Couldn't agree with you more. I still have some holy grail high end stuff that I will continue to repurchase but there are so many drugstore dupes out there waiting to be discovered! Xx
