Whats for dinner? La Shish, Guildford Sydney
Welcome to the little jewel box that is la shish. Every few months we get a hankering for good, uncomplicated Lebanese food and make the trip over to Guildford in the western suburbs of Sydney. Recent renovations have transformed this hidden gem from tired and “no frills” to a more spacious and contemporary venue. The beautifully coloured tiles on the walls and brass lanterns create a warm and inviting environment.
The menu features many traditional delights such as the ever popular and tangy garlic chicken, deep fried sambusik and delicious and crunchy felafel. However we can never go past the excellent value and variety of the la shish mixed plate which contains all the regular goodies including dips, skewers of lamb, chicken and kafta as well as tabouli, felafel and a good dollop of toum for a reasonable $20. We are always amazed at the ability of patrons to devour an entire plate to themselves as we often share one between us along with a super tangy and addictive fattoush salad and the various pickless, bread and accompaniments that come along with your meal.
The food is fast, fresh and delicious without pretention, the place is family friendly and can get quite loud and busy on weekends as those who are in the know can never stay away for too long. Bookings are recommended for larger groups.
