The best of Benefit Cosmetics
Benefit Cosmetics is the ultimate girly makeup company. The San Francisco brand does quirky, cute and fun well.
Ive been a long time lover of all things Benefit for years ever since I discovered Benetint and Ive been happy to see them go from strength to strength in recent years to the point where they are one of the most recognised brands in the Australian beauty marketplace.
We hear so much about their much hyped products but in reality the range spans wider than just those few products we always hear about.
Here is the best of the best from the brand, hopefully you discover something new!
Benefit do great brow products, from brow pencils to powder and wax kits, the stand out product from Benefit Cosmetics has to be Gimme Brow. This tinted brow gel helps keep your brows groomed and tidy while still looking natural. Its perfect for adding a little volume to brows which are a little sparse.
High Beam has been around and widely used by makeup artists way before strobing was a thing. The icy cool pink cream is packaged similarly to the Benefit Cosmetics tints but is thicker in its consistency. High Beam blends easily with fingers or a beauty blender to create a beautiful dewey sheen on the tops of cheeks. I love that it suits all skin tones and its consistency prevents any cakeyness that can occur when too much powder highlighter.
Watts Up is a beautiful warm toned champagne highlighter, the consistency is much like the NARS multiple and applies straight from the stick to the skin or can be warmed up on the fingers first before patting into the skin. The packaging of this product (like most from Benefit Cosmetics) is awesome! A sponge blending tool is provided on the end which is great for travel!
Benefit has a few primers available including a long wearing mattifying primer (which just never worked for me) a gorgeous brightening primer in That Gal but by far the most popular Benefit Cosmetics Primer (and most widely sold world wide has to be The Porefessional. This invisible balm helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and large pores. The Porefessional has spawned a whole lot of imitations that have a similar smooth silicone feeling
Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation
Hello Flawless was one of the first higher end foundation I ever really enjoyed. I love the brightening properties (its almost as if a drop of High Beam was included in the formula) While it isnt one of those “flawless” looking foundations it just always looked nice, fresh and not cakey on my combination skin. Paired with The Porefessional it made my skin look smoother and brighter and lasted a good while without breaking up in my tzone. I tend to wear this now in Winter when it provides some extra moisture.
I feel like Hoola really needs no explanation. Here are the essential things you need to know. Its midtoned, matte and while its warm toned its not too “orange” personally I use this as a bronzer only and not for contouring as its too warm for that on my pale skin for warmer, more bronzed girls this could be used to add some definition to the face. Added benefit is that it comes with a really good little powder brush which is perfect for sculpting out cheekbones.
While Theyre Real is definitely Benefit’s most famous mascara, for some reason it never really did much for my short and straight lashes. Roller Lash on the other hand has become one of my favourite mascaras in my collection. Roller Lash lifts and lengthens lashes to create a great looking curl that when layered a few times lasts all day. Unlike Theyre Real, Roller Lash doesn’t instantly clump lashes but separates and provides definition. Love this one!
